

The Ashland Gun and Country Club was chartered on March 25th, 1916. Twenty-seven Schuylkill County sportsmen signed the Corporation Charter.

- at the annual meeting of the PSSA, held in Lansdale, Pa, the Ashland Gun Club
was elected into the Pennsylvania State

1928 - The Ashland Gun Club had eight working traps in use and as granted, The Pennsylvania State Shoot by the PSSA.
June 6th – 9th 1928 - The Pa state shoot, was a huge success. It was "One the greatest tournaments in the history of the oldest and strongest State Association in the country."
With the weather conditions detrimental, owning to the threatening weather prevailing each morning, many shooters were kept at home and facing a financial depression, especially in the anthracite coal fields. The shoot went off without a hitch, due in great party to John Broderick, Dr. Thomas Buckley and Daniel Kessler.

of the 1928 Pa state shoot:
Steve Crothers won his fifth Pennsylvania Singles title as well as winning the HAA and HOA crowns. He defeated Daniel Kessler and Walter Beaver in a one round shoot-off after all three posted 1980's.
Bud Meiss of Hazleton won the Doubles crown with 45X50.
It was at the annual meeting held during the shoot at the Ashland Gun Club that the PSSA changed the number of doubles targets from 25 pair to 50 pair for all future state championships.
October 10th, 1987 - the club and its 15 acres were placed on the auction block and sold to a group of 22 sportsmen.
1991 – The Ashland Gun Club had a new addition built to the original building, adding a large 36X40 social room. The social room can be rented out for any event such as graduations, baby showers, birthdays etc.
Today - The Ashland Gun Club has over 200 members plus 22 "stockholders" who own a share. Dan Cuff has taken over managing the club and has organized many events. Events held in 2009 since his new position include:
Dan also offered rounds of trap to youngsters who were involved in the youth mentored Pheasant hunt put on by the Gordon Fish and Game Club.
During seasonal conditions, two houses are available for trap shooting.

Wednesday 5:30pm – 9pm
Friday 6pm – 9pm
Sunday 4pm – 9pm
****Membership is not necessary for events and trap shooting however, it is encouraged the dues are $10.00 per year.
